Digital and computer artists, like scientists and data vizualisation experts, are using much more data than before and are running out of easy methods to save, retrieve and act on this data. Numerous technologies have emerged to ease this burden, but each seems tailored to specific needs. At this collusion, we will discuss and share methods that we each employ for common tasks like: email list management, web site production and hosting, accounting, and submission management, to more complex tasks like: video editing, massive data set wrangling, data longevity, real-time collaboration, and storage hardware issues.
Participants are encouraged to discuss and demonstrate methods that work for them. We have a projector, so the VGA cable can be passed around for demos. I'll also start a shared document on Googe Docs for the pithy results. Come whether you have tools to share or not.
There will be some beer present, but if you have a favorite or want to share, please bring some. We are the second floor of a duplex at the corner of Langley and Glazer Roads in Newton Center. The Newton Center stop on the Green D line is very close, and there is plenty of parking on Glazer Way.
